Our Strategies
For our Mandarin and Cantonese congregations, we plan to reach at least 10% of Chinese in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area. For English congregation, we want to reach people who speak primarily English.
Here are our growth strategies for the next 7 years. That is from October 2005 to October 2012:
Worship:
- Establish a clear and practical theology for our worship ministry.
- Develop & train at least 3 worship teams
- Establish prayer teams praying for people during Sunday services
- Have a prayer room open 7 days a week
- Every believer will develop a habit of quiet time with the Lord at least five days a week.
- Becoming a more visitor friendly church by training effective ushers and greeters.
- Develop a more effective multimedia ministry. That is putting worship services on church’s web site, CDs, VCDs etc.
- Having a concurrent English and Mandarin service.
- Encourage children 1-6 grade to participate in children worship
Instruction:
- Every believer will attend Sunday school to study the word of God in depth.
- Launching all 4 tracks of Adult Sunday school in Mandarin congregation. At least 2 tracks for Cantonese and English congregations.
- Establish a Bible seminary to train our church leaders and Christian students who intent to return to their home country.
- Recruit and train committed Children, Youth and Adult Sunday school teachers and counselors.
Fellowship:
- Develop culturally relevant (meaning: age, background, language, etc) small groups (D7) or fellowships that meet the needs of our congregation.
- Actively encourage and assimilate every believer to joint a small group for fellowship.
- Recruit and train committed small group/fellowship leaders.
Expression
- Every non-believer who comes to our church will have the opportunity to hear the Gospel at least once
- Every believer is trained on how to do personal evangelism and follow-up new believers.
- Start at least three Evangelistic Bible Study groups conducted near or in UM, EMU, and WCC campus.
- Each year, send at least one short-term mission team to North America or other parts of the world.
- Help believers find their place of service by identifying their unique personalities and spiritual gifts.
- Develop a stable and stronger youth ministry by empowering youths to do ministry themselves.
- Encourage our youths to participate in “Youth Summer Mission Project” organized by the “Chinese Baptist Fellowship of North America and Canada ”.
- If we have a gymnasium with a full sized basketball court, we could start a sports ministry to reach youths and adults in our community.
- Start and complete second phase of our Church building project.
- Serving our community. E.g. giving out clothing, old furniture, serving meals for the needy etc.
- Establishing a Biblical counseling center for Chinese community.
